Free tool
Squarespace to
static site.
Find out how easily your Squarespace site becomes plain HTML on Netlify: faster, yours to keep, and no monthly plan. Then copy a prompt that has your coding agent do the rebuild.
Why bother
You are paying a monthly plan to host a brochure.
Fast by default
Plain HTML from a global CDN, instead of the platform scripts every Squarespace page loads before your content.
Yours to keep
Squarespace's own export covers some pages and posts as a WordPress file and leaves the design behind. Here you get every page, as files you own.
Next to nothing to host
Netlify's free tier covers most small business sites, forms included. No more Squarespace plan.
The diagnosis
What decides whether it goes static.
Commerce and member areas
Squarespace Commerce and Member Areas need accounts and a checkout. These are the real blockers.
Form and newsletter blocks
Submissions go to Squarespace today. They are rebuilt as Netlify Forms, with no server needed.
Scheduling, comments and search
Squarespace Scheduling keeps working as an embed. Comments and search each have a static replacement.
Version 7.0 or 7.1
Version 7.1 sections and Fluid Engine layouts rebuild cleanly. A 7.0 template is rebuilt once and reused for every page.
Pages and collections
Pages, blog posts, events and products, counted from the sitemap. Large blogs get generated from a template rather than built by hand.
Colours and fonts
The five theme colours and the font settings, read from your site styles. We also flag Adobe Fonts, which stop loading once you leave Squarespace.
The output
One folder, ready for Netlify.
Your original copy, word for word. Your images, converted to WebP. Your colours and fonts as CSS variables. Your old URLs kept as they are, so search rankings carry over.
